I am a doctor of astrophysics and the Associate Professor at the
Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, you can find my Curriculum Vitae
here. I am the initiator and current leader of the
Cosmic-Ray Extremely Distributed Observatory
(CREDO) Collaboration which aims at exploration of the as yet un-probed broadcasting
channel of the Universe: the channel of extended particle cascades we name
cosmic ray ensembles (CRE). CREDO will tell us whether we can receive a signal
in this channel. Needless to say, receiving a signal in a completely new channel,
might give us hints about the deepest mysteries of the Universe – the long
awaited breakthrough in science. The data set we are attacking is impossibly
huge, our expectations on the properties of the signal are highly uncertain,
nevertheless we know how to start. We also know that we will need a lot of
help from science enthusiasts, not only scientists – there is also a lot of
room for public engagement in citizen science within CREDO. All hands on board
for the ultimately exciting quest for unexpected physics!
